Annette Daniels paints
under the pseudonym of Yamina Gant

Yamina was born in Algeria, North Africa, and raised in Paris, France. She had some formal art training in France, however, America gave her the balance of training that she needed to fully understand Art. Annette studied under the direction of powerful and prominent artists. Art discipline was learned from her now departed friend and mentor, Florence Hay. Her pastel instructors were Daniel Green, Leslie B. De Mille, Albert Handel, Dorothy Barta, Larry Blovits, Alan Flattmann, Michael C. Johnson and Sean Dye. Her oil instructors were Ramon Froman, Florence Hay, Krystyna Robbins and Bill Zaner. Her watercolor instructors were, Edgar Whitney, Bud Biggs, Tom Lynch, Toni Van Hasselt, Zoltan Zabo, Naomi Brotherton, Bill Herring and Frank Webb. She also took art courses at Community College and University of Texas at El Paso. She has been in the Art Circle for many years and was President of the El Paso Art Association for two consecutive years.

For several years, however, she stopped painting to pursue a culinary career. She owned and operated two French restaurants in El Paso and has retired as Executive Chef and Food and Beverage Director from a large national hotel. She is now coming back to her first love, Fine Art.

Annette belongs to several art organizations such as a Life member of the El Paso Art Association, Pastel Society of El Paso, Rio Bravo Watercolor Society and Portrait Society of America. She is past Editor of the PSEP and RBW. She also was a member on the board of Director of the El Paso Opera.

Yamina has won numerous awards and her works hang in many homes and businesses throughout the United States, France, Holland and Australia
